I started up my machine this morning, everything looked jolly; the pressure and the temperature build up nice and smoothly. Once the machine reached its optimal temperature, I performed a dry run, and then turned on the steam valve. Oh my! It was like I had turned on the afterburner of a fighter jet, the pressure stayed above 1.0 bar throughout the duration of 60 seconds. Once I turned off the steam valve, the pressure build back up promptly. I went back to the machine after a short break and found the reading at zero. Dang, not a good sign.
I tried again this afternoon. Turned on the machine, and notta! I couldn’t even hear the heating element working at all. I rechecked the machine half an hour later, and the machine was still ice cold, a flat liner…Not good at all…

does the pump run? It sounds like the high-limit thermostat has tripped. THe fact that you had some sporadic problems heating up before makes me feel like your pressurestat has started to go bad (this time, maybe letting the temp go up high enough to trip that thermostat.
Hi Mike,
I know you are onto something, and I can see what you are saying. But I don’t have a single brain cell that can comprehend the technical details, nor do I have any tool to test it.
The guy @ Chris told me that the problem could also be the faulty thermal fuse or the heating element. He even went further about how I could test the thermal fuse. I heard what he said, but my head could not process fast enough for his instructions. Maybe I just didn’t want to hear it. : ) In any case, I guess could do it with the written instructions in front of me, but it would also take me a long time to do, something that you guys consider it as a walk in the park.
I am going to send it in, and have them work on it. I was told to drain the machine first. That I know I can do... : )
Cheers,
Oh poor guy. The holidays are coming closer and your little spro guy goes poop. This is why it's pretty useful to get acquainted with all those bits hehe. It always goes to show nothing is easy, and when murphy wants a practical joke, you just might be the punchline.
Chris' shop will get you squared away.
Andy,
Awful, ain't it?? I have been "French Pressing" for the last few days, I can't complaint, however. I do miss my daily cappuccino...
Cheers,
Steve
P.S. Congrats for breaking your own free fall speed record...
