
Espresso Freddo

Inspired by this beauty and curious of this controversy, I went ahead and make one myself.
I cooled down the espresso (2 doubles) by pulled them straight into the room temp simple syrup, then into a martini shaker with ice. Shake it and serve. It was pretty good. No funny taste…

I think you did well, even in the time from entering the syrup to your shake you are at a most rapid decline.
Trial an espresso side by side to one right over the rocks and you should notice some differing acidic notes. Their not always wrong and every blend is going to move this point around but it does exist.
It is funny though every customer has become programmed to their way right away and that's not always the case. If I had a shop I'd have my bar at a level and unless the demographics wanted a dynamic shift I'd hold my line where I chose it to be based on what I would hope are fair and equitable product guidelines.
Ah well, espresso under the bridge. ;-)

You are right, I need a true side by side comparison. I just didn't want to waste 2 fairly good espresso. : ) Will try it in the near future though.
